Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist as well as a businessperson. She co-founded The Huffington Post, is the founder and CEO of Thrive Global as well an author of a number of novels. Arianna Huffington is a philanthropist and author television host, and proprietor of the liberally independent online newsmagazine The Huffington Post. Her birthplace was in Greece then moved to England in the year 16. Then, at Cambridge University, she graduated with a MA in Economics. The first non-native English speaking student to graduate, she was voted to the presidency of The Cambridge Union' at age 21. When she graduated, she made her name as an independent syndicated columnist, and, with the advent of The Huffington Post' few years later, she launched a voice-based website that provided critical views regarding the current political situation. Her fame led to the recruitment of a number of well-known contributors to share their views on news, politics as well as culture. Arianna gained fame after she made the decision in 2003 to candidly run as an independent candidate for the California Recall Election in order to replace Governor Davis. Alongside this she was the leader of the Detroit Project for fuel-efficient cars. Forbes identified her as being the 12th most influential woman in media in 2009, and Guardian also included her on the Top 100 List of Media during the same year. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post in 2011 and named her the president of the media group, which also included other AOL products like Engadget AOL Music Style list and Patch Media. The couple she was born to were journalist and management consultant Konstantinos along with his partner Elli Stasinopoulos. She was extremely close to her father. It was the relationship she had with her mother which shaped her. Her leadership skills were evident even in her early years. Her move to England came at age 16 to complete her schooling and enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. She joined the Cambridge Union college debate society while in college as she was the third and first female to hold the position of the president. In 1972, she earned her master's degree in Economics. After when she graduated, she was an anchor on television and a columnist. Her appearance in Face the music with Bernard Levin was also notable. She started writing books and enlisting his assistance in editing.
