Anna Paquin
Anna Paquin is a Canadian and New Zealand actress. Paquin was born in Winnipeg and raised by Wellington Paquin's father, was first seen on stage in the role of Flora McGrath. For this part, she was awarded the Academy Award of Best Supporting Actress for The romantic drama The Piano at the young age of eleven. She was the second youngest recipient in Oscar the history of Oscars. Following a prompt for auditions, she was able to audition when she was nine and having no previous experience in acting the actress was chosen for Flora McGrath's role. Flora is the daughter of the Scottish musician who was blind. They moved from Scotland to New Zealand during the middle of the nineteenth century to plan a wedding. As a teenager her family left Canada and eventually to United States. Paquin was the main character in the film Fly Away Home in 1996 as well as a brief appearance in the film as Jane Eyre when she was only a child. Paquin was Frankie Addams from a television film version of Carson McCullers' novels The Member of the Wedding (1997). The actress played a minor role in the Queen of Spain Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997. She played teenagers on Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000) and A Walk on the Moon (2000). The actress played the role of a groupie Polexia Aphrodisa in Almost Famous (2000).
