
Jessica Michelle Chastain, born on the 24th of March, 1977, is an American actress. Her films that focus on feminist themes are her most popular. She has received numerous accolades including an Academy Award as well as a Golden Globe Award. Time magazine named her one of the 100 most influential individuals around the globe in 2012. Chastain was drawn to acting as a child and made her stage debut in 1998 in Shakespeare's Juliet. After her studies in acting at the Juilliard School, she was accepted into a talent-holding agreement with television producer John Wells. She appeared as frequent guest on several television series and also played roles in several stage productions. Chastain made her debut film in Jolene (2008) at the age of 31. She went on to release six films in 2011 with the most notable being The Tree of Life (2011) and Take Shelter (2011). Chastain was also considered for Academy Award nominations as a part of The Help (2011), in which she played an aspiring socialite, as well as Zero Dark Thirty (2012) as an analyst for the CIA analyst. The science fiction films Interstellar (2014) & The Martian (2015) were commercially more successful than the horror film It Chapter Two (2019). Chastain received further acclaim for playing strong-willed women in the dramas A Most violent Year (2014), Miss Sloane (2016), and Molly's Game (2017), and the miniseries for television Scenes from a Marriage (2021). After her role as Tammy Faye Bakker, she was awarded the Academy Award for Best Actress as well as Tammy Wynette in The Eyes of Tammy Faye (21) and Tammy Wynette from The Eyes of Tammy-Faye. Chastain is the founder of the production company Freckle Films, which was established to encourage the diversity of filmmaking, and is an investor in the soccer club Angel City FC. She has a strong voice on mental health issues, as well as gender and racial equality.
